Kia ora,
Today I am posting this 'Who am I?' about a superhero.
This week and 2 weeks to come we are doing everything
about a super heros in our community.
I found describing it easy. I found making it hard.
The learning behind the task was about writing and
learning about our community heroes.

This week we are making and learning about our community and heroes.
I enjoyed that this was an independent task. I don't enjoy that we had to do it twice. The learning behind the task was about writing and learning about our heros.

Structure of the Earth

Kia ora,

We are learning about the structure of the Earth.

I learnt that the Earth is made up of 4 layers. They are:

Crust, Mantle, Outer core, Inner core.

Facts about each layer:

Crust -The crust is 8-40 kilometres thick and is Solid but Brittle, it is the first layer.

Mantle - The mantle has a thick rock but is soft, squishy and hot, it is the second layer.

Outer Core -The outer core is as hot as an oven that is at the highest level, it is the 3rd layer.

Inner Core -The inner core is hotter than all of the layers but it is solid

because of the pressure being push down on it this is the fourth layer.

Our group - Brooke Briggs, Me and Piata.

First we created a 3D image of the earth using soft clay.

We then cut the shape in half to show the different layers. After waiting for it to dry, we identified each layer by painting them in different colours.

Earthworms

Kia ora,

We have been learning about earthworms with Mrs Fletcher, we found some worms and put them in a plastic container, then we used a magnifying glass to count the segments on their body.

We needed to write complex sentences about worms.

1.  Worms like the dark better than the light.
2. Earthworms like the dark better than the light because the are safe underground.
3. Earthworms like the dark better than the light because the are safe underground and the birds will not get them.

I found it hard to find the facts. I found it easy to learn how many segments were on the worms.

A Snapper is a life form because...

We have learned what a fishbone diagram is and how to use a completed one to make our own using a life form of our choice. We had to organise the fact boxes by using MRS GREN which is an acronym which reminds you about what life forms do. Here is mine. I chose to write about a snapper. What I liked about this task was learning what snapper did. What was easy?  I found that finding the facts was easy.

Summer and Christmas Poems

We have been writing poems about Summer and Christmas. We needed

 to write an acrostic poem. Here is my acrostic poem.

Christmas Tree

We sketched a Christmas tree, then we put some words on it about how we felt when 

we saw the Christmas tree. We then made a poem about

 Christmas on our Chromebooks.

Greats and Grands Day

Last week we had our Greats and Grands day. We wrote poems for our grandparents. Here is my poem about why my grandparents are so special.

How to make a milo

  We have been learning how to use procedural writing. We have been writing about making Milo. Here are my instructions.

Animal Town.

This week we have used another picture as motivation for our writing. We had a story starter and
then we had to carry on the story.

What I like about my writing is that it is long.

I need to improve on not to uos to much spich.

Here is my writing about Animal Town.

“Yay” I yelled “more people to scare! Oh sorry I haven't introduced myself my name is Spirit
because I am a gorgeous black and white striped Zebra, that is way my name is Spirit.
I present the spirits.”

“What about you? You present the people right?”

“Spirit! Spirit!”

“Oh that is my mother her name is Nearly the queen of all the Zebras in the world.”

“Oh no! Hide Darla, hi mother.” I said. “Oh my darling has anything happened to you?” said Mum.
“No mother but look what I found.” i whispered.

“Ahh! What is this thing?” Mum asked me.

“It is Darla, she came to see the animal town and she is my fun friend. Hang on a minute she is
my only friend, my only excited friend and you are not abandoning her or your abandoning me.
So do not even think about anything bad or else.” I shouted.  

“Or else what? What do you want me to do with her Spirit? Feed her to the hungry jaguars?”
my mad mother said.

“No mother do not even think about that,” I shouted.

“Ok I will not but first can I call Brooke, your mean sister and your nice sister Piata to come out?”
“Ok mother.”

“Piata and Brooke can you come out please?”

“Sure mother the queen.” They replied.

“What do you want me to do mother?” said Brooke.

“Oh my Brooky,  want you to kill your little sisters friend so she can be lonely forever.”

“No mother you can not hurt Darla my only friend.” I said in a dreadful voice, that I have never used.

Before I could finish my dad started talking to stop my mother from hearing my dreadful voice.
My father was trying to make my mother keep an eye on him while Darla and I were able to make
a run for it. We got blocked by Piata but instead of her killing Darla she let us go, she even made a
cover for us so our mother could not notice we were running away.

Golf

We have been learning to play golf.

I liked being at golf in Auckland.

I am good at doing my L and Y.

I need to work on swinging the club better.

Hot air balloon writing

This week we have used a picture as motivation for our writing. We had a story starter and then we
had to carry on the story. What I like about my writing is I did not ue to much speeches.

I need to improve on making my story longer.

We also made a google draw showing the things that we would take with us in on the balloon.

While Piata and I were getting ready for blast off in our red and stripy balloon called Cocoa, the gun suddenly went off bang! Bang! And the race began whoosh! Whoosh! Went all the hot air balloons in the race around the world.

“Oh no! We have lost the rest of the racers, Piata,” I shouted. “Can you see them up there?” “No,” they shouted, “all I see is a white house coming to us, we must be crashing!” “Oh no!” I shouted we are crashing in the back of the President of the United  States White House.

“Oh hi President of the United States. I heard you are famous for lots of  business. Are you Donald Trump?” said Piata.

“Yes, I am president Donald Trump,” said Trump.

“Pleased to meet you president Donald Trump. Do you mind helping Piata and I with our hot air balloon.” I said.

“I don't mind helping with that,” he replied.

Finally we are back on the road and almost at the finish line. Bang! Bang! We have just won the $1,000,000. Yay, yay we are now all happy that we have won!

Pou

As part of our writing programme we have been doing environmental writing. We had to sketch an object and as we were sketching we wrote down thoughts that we had. Then we wrote our thoughts down  as a poem. We cut out the sketch and added this to our writing.
